Marriott’s Transition to New Credit Card Processor Begins April 1
Franchisees | Marriott recently evaluated our current credit card acquirer contract in preparation for its expiration in Q1. After reviewing the provider options, Marriott has selected Chase Paymentech as the acquirer for all hotels in the U.S. & Canada (replacing Bank of America Merchant Services (BAMS) in the U.S. and First Data Canada Merchant Services in Canada). The transition to Chase Paymentech will result in lower transaction costs for hotels. It also aligns with our overall security strategy, and is a foundational element for franchised hotels implementing the required Global Point of Sale solution in the future.
Chase will begin transitioning hotels on April 1. In advance of this transition, we will be requiring all franchised hotel GMs to complete an Information Gathering Checklist to provide merchant information as well as details of existing PMS and POS used to process credit card transactions. After this information has been provided to Chase, we will also be asking GMs to coordinate execution of a Merchant Application Package (which must be signed by an Authorized Signer for the hotel). If all of the properties in your portfolio can be approved by a single signer, please notify your GMs and contact Chase by March 6, using the contact information included below, to complete this step. Details and deadlines will be communicated to hotels via the February 9 Franchise Weekly Update.
