Updates to ‘Franchise Identification’ Standard

Franchisees | The Franchise Identification standard, which was originally published in 2000, provides guidance to hotels regarding franchise identification requirements. The standard originally applied to CFRST hotels only but has now been updated and enhanced to apply to all franchise hotels in the U.S. and Canada, including JW Marriott, Autograph Collection Hotels, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Delta Hotels and Resorts, MOXY Hotels, and AC Hotels by Marriott.

The standard outlines requirements for franchise hotels as to point of sale/payment transactions, including identification on Marriott.com hotel websites and check-out invoices, as well as in the lobby area. Marriott will coordinate the necessary hotel website and invoice form changes on behalf of all hotels. Franchise management companies should ensure a lobby plaque is displayed in order to identify the hotel(s) as operated under a license from Marriott.

Additionally, franchise hotels must identify themselves as such at guest points of communications, including press releases, business cards, brochures, letterheads, email correspondence, and advertising.

Review the full standard for details to ensure your hotels become compliant by December 31, 2015. Note: hotels will receive notification of this standard change via Franchise Weekly Update.

We appreciate your support in ensuring your hotels comply with this updated standard. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Account Executive.
