Guestroom Entertainment Update | MH Incentive Deadline Approaching and Reminder to Comply with Brand Standard
Guestroom Entertainment, the next generation in-room entertainment system, is now the brand standard for all hotels* in the U.S. and Canada. Leading with Marriott Hotels, Marriott is offering a one-time incentive of $4 per room per month for one year to eligible MH properties. To be eligible for this incentive, MH properties must sign contracts by Dec. 31, 2015 in the U.S. or by March 31, 2016 in Canada, and install the new platform by March 31, 2016 in the U.S. or by June 30, 2016 in Canada. Hotels that have not yet taken steps to participate in this incentive are encouraged to do so by their respective deadline in order to take advantage of this one-time incentive.
As a reminder for all brands*, the guestroom entertainment platform must be installed by Nov. 30, 2016 in the U.S. and by March 31, 2017 in Canada (Jan. 1, 2018 for Delta Hotels), unless under a legacy contact. To better understand the brand standard requirements, review the Television / Programming – Guestroom and Public Space Brand Standard and the Contract Requirements Job Aid.
With more than 150 hotels contracted or installed to-date in the U.S. and Canada, feedback from guests and hotel associates has been positive. General Managers of hotels that have installed that platform report:
- “The platform is a huge improvement over the old, outdated TV equipment we used to have in the hotel.”
- “Guests love it! We have even seen our guest satisfaction scores go up.”
- “We have been able to use the new TV platform in our sales process for group events and meetings.”
Next Steps
- MH Hotels should complete a Property Information Survey, if they have not done so already, and submit via Land-It to initiate the contracting process and ensure they meet the deadlines outlined above to be eligible for the MH incentive. Owners and franchisees of MH properties are encouraged to support these hotels in taking advantage of the MH incentive.
- All Brands should validate their television contract expiration date and begin planning to install the new platform. The complete set of installation steps can be found on MGS. We appreciate your support in ensuring your properties comply with the new brand standard deadlines.
We believe the guestroom entertainment platform provides an opportunity to further differentiate Marriott from its competitors and enable hotels to stay relevant with guests now and into the future. Thank you for your continued support.
