Trademarks, Trade Names, Service Marks, and Logos Standard Update
Please note that hotels will receive notification of this standard change via the April 18 Weekly Update.
Originally posted in 2002, the Trademarks, Trade Names, Service Marks, and Logos standard provides guidance to hotels regarding the proper use of Marriott International’s proprietary trademarks. The standard originally applied only to Full Service hotels, but has now been updated and enhanced to apply globally to all managed and franchise hotels, as well as to all brands.
The standard details that Marriott Proprietary Marks can only be used for marketing of Marriott Lodging Brands; they may not be used in any sales or marketing activities in combination with any non-Marriott brands or businesses of any kind. The standard goes on to list several use cases covered by the standard, as well as situations in which Marriott can exercise discretion to authorize the use of its proprietary marks.
Please review the standard for additional details. We appreciate your support in ensuring your hotels comply with this updated standard.
