New Certification Requirement with One Yield version 2 Release

OYlogoAs communicated earlier this month, the launch of One Yield version 2 kicked off on March 13 for the first three deployment waves. As you know, One Yield version 2 leverages Marriott’s award-winning, scientific approach to managing revenue. Given the significant changes that are part of the One Yield version 2 rollout, it’s important that every user understands the system’s new innovations in order to effectively maximize the hotel’s performance, including:

  • Taking advantage of improved science in segmentation and forecasting, enhanced automation, and a more intuitive user interface,
  • Leveraging the concept of ‘hurdle revenue’, a new approach to more refined inventory controls, and
  • Enabling the development of future reservations capabilities, allowing hotels to deliver a personalized, value-based booking solution for consumers.

In order to ensure greater adoption of these changes by One Yield version 2 users, Marriott Revenue Management has introduced a certification component that will help users deepen their understanding of the new system. Additionally, the introduction of this certification component now puts Marriott in line with its competitors, many of which already have system certification requirements for their Revenue Managers. The certification will be implemented and enforced as part of the rollout of One Yield version 2.

Basic details of the new certification:

  • Hotels that are currently using Marriott’s PLUS+Services or Revenue Management Remote Solutions, or decide to start using these services for their Revenue Management prior to One Yield version 2 deployment, will not have to obtain an additional certified resource as they are covered by these services.
  • For hotels that are not currently using Marriott’s PLUS+Services or Revenue Management Remote Solutions, any Revenue Manager or Sales Strategy Team member that needs ‘update access’ to One Yield version 2 – as part of global rollout and any time after – will be required to take and pass the certification exam.
  • Each property must have at least one certified user in place in order to go live with One Yield version 2 at the time of their scheduled rollout of the system, or risk being delayed to the next scheduled wave of deployment.
  • A second certified user is highly recommended for each property to ensure coverage in the event of staff turnover. In the event of a hotel losing their only certified One Yield version 2 user, the hotel may contract with Marriott’s PLUS+Services to acquire a certified resource within 2-5 business days of alerting PLUS+Services of their need.
  • During One Yield version 2 rollout, training and testing will be completed prior to the hotel’s go-live date. Users that participate in virtual or in-person instructor-led One Yield version 2 training will take the certification exam at the end of their training.
  • Following the One Yield version 2 rollout, the sustainment plan will require new users needing ‘update access’ to take a series of eLearning modules and pass the certification exam through myLearning.
  • Users will have two chances to take and pass the certification exam; users that fail the exam a second time will receive personalized training through the PLUS+Services team. This training will cost the hotel approximately $2,500 USD, and will provide users a comprehensive review of all base concepts of One Yield version 2 and the legacy One Yield system.
    • Without a certified user in place, prior to go-live, the hotel’s rollout of One Yield version 2 will be delayed.
    • Users not in compliance with the One Yield version 2 certification requirement will be downgraded to ‘read only access’ in One Yield version 2 until they pass the exam.
  • Options to meet the One Yield version 2 certified user requirement include:
    • The hotel’s primary revenue management resource completing all One Yield version 2 training and achieving a passing score on the certification exam.
    • The hotel opts to contract, at a cost, with Marriott’s PLUS+Services until a primary, certified revenue management resource is in place.
    • The hotel opts to contract with Marriott’s Revenue Management Remote Solutions to provide One Yield version 2 certified revenue management services on an annual basis.
  • Our intention is to make One Yield version 2 Certification a brand standard.
