As we mentioned in our last Revenue Management update in December, we are now in the final preparations for the global rollout of One Yield version 2. The updated Roadmap below displays our journey from late 2015 through early 2018.

The rollout begins the week of March 13. By the end of 2017, all properties currently on One Yield (i.e., Marriott-branded (as of Sept. 23, 2016) hotels) will be on One Yield version 2. With One Yield version 2, hotels will be able to take advantage of improved science in segmentation and forecasting, enhanced automation, more refined inventory controls, and a more intuitive user interface – all of which we believe will drive revenue and profit. One Yield version 2 will be deployed to former Starwood properties in 2018.

As we also reviewed in our December update, leveraging the capabilities of the Retail Pricing Optimizer (RPO) and Inventory Optimization (IO) is key to the effectiveness of One Yield. One Yield version 2 builds on this foundation. What we learned from the 113 proof-of-concept and pilot hotels already live on One Yield version 2 is that hotels not currently using these capabilities in One Yield will have a much harder time adapting to the new enhancements in One Yield version 2. Now is the time to ensure One Yield is being fully utilized, and to ensure that any other foundational training needs are completed (e.g., Revenue Management Foundational Phase 1 Training for both Revenue Managers and General Managers).

As you know, in addition to delivering improved science and an enhanced user experience, One Yield version 2 is also a pre-requisite for ERS (Enhanced Reservation Solution), and for the integration of the former Starwood brands into the Marriott ecosystem. Based on our research and learnings thus far, we are confident that One Yield version 2 will make a positive impact on your top and bottom line.

Rollout Basics:

Wave deployment: The rollout will have 21 separate deployment waves with a range of 190–270 properties per wave. Each wave has 14 weeks of planned activities before go-live and four weeks of post-deployment support.

Launch schedule: In order for us to support the rollout with in-person/in-market training, we will deploy One Yield version 2 by market (e.g., New York, London, Bangkok, Los Angeles, Dubai). Visit MGS to view the schedule overview by property including go-live date, and a date range for instructor-led training and eLearning. Specific dates will be sent to property teams with their detailed wave launch announcement.

Required Training: The training utilizes a blended learning approach with eLearnings, hands-on immersion and instructor-led training. The instructor-led training will be either virtual instructor-led or in-market instructor-led and will be role-based. Training will be tailored to specific roles (if relevant for the hotel), such as Revenue Manager, General Manager, Events, Sales, Front Office, and Finance.

Certification: To ensure greater adoption and understanding of key concepts, every property will be required to have at least one Revenue Manager (or other revenue management resource) that is “certified” by passing the One Yield version 2 certification exam. A secondary certified revenue management resource is recommended to ensure coverage (e.g., in the event of turnover), but not required. Our intention is to make Certification a brand standard. More details on Certification will be coming soon.

Visit MGS to learn more about any of these topics.
