Marriott’s Senior Discount Program Replacing SPG AARP Program

The Senior Discount program, which has previously been in place for all Marriott Rewards brands, is being updated and expanded to include SPG brands. Beginning November 15, 2017, the Senior Discount program will be required for all brands, except for The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, where the discount is optional. The program will offer a 15% room rate discount for seniors over the age of 62.

Notable Changes:

  • SPG Hotels:
The AARP program previously offered by SPG hotels will be retired January 1, 2018.
The Senior Discount program has a higher age threshold (62 for Senior Discount vs. 50 for AARP) as well as yieldability.
  • Marriott Rewards Hotels:
The 20% discount in F&B that was previously offered at Marriott Rewards brands is no longer required within the standard.
