Guest Room Recycling Program Update
Marriott Rewards Owners & Franchise Management Companies | Marriott International has established a new guest room recycling program across Marriott Rewards brands beginning November 2017. Guest Room Recycling will provide an in-room recycling option to guests. High-level on property activities include:
- Ensuring sufficient recycling infrastructure
- Sourcing, labeling and placing recycling bins in guest rooms
- Collecting recyclables disposed of in guest rooms
Guest Room Recycling Program Overview
Marriott is proud to take responsibility for the environmental impact of our business operations. Recycling is one of the simplest ways hotels can reduce waste and save natural resources, while also ensuring we meet guest expectations. Guest Room Recycling will benefit properties by:
- Reducing cost of waste disposal
- Saving energy
- Improving guest loyalty
- Improving community relations
- All Marriott Rewards hotels are included; SPG hotels have a current recycling brand standard and are not included
Timeline
- October 2017 – Guest Room Recycling brand standard released
- November 2017 – Deployment of Guest Room Recycling program begins
- January 2018 – Brand standard effective
- Brand Standard Audit value following roll-out will be:
- 2018 – Zero audit points
- Jan. 31, 2019 – Audit points applied
Cost
