Webinar Materials | New Automated Inventory Yielding Capabilities for Third-Party Channels

As announced via direct email on December 8, Marriott will be launching new functionality beginning on December 18 that will make the yielding of inventory more automated for hotels. Inventory yielding is an effective approach to manage indirect channel mix, but has traditionally been difficult for an individual hotel to execute, and has been based primarily on top-line revenue only without consideration of the cost of the channel or strategic implications for the system. Thanks to the introduction of One Yield version 2 (available at MR hotels), and recent modifications to ROS/Valhalla (available at SPG hotels), Marriott can now strategically manage the inventory extended to intermediaries based on revenue, cost of sale, value of business and other strategic factors. Going forward, Marriott’s revenue management systems (One Yield version 2 and ROS) will be able to manage availability across intermediary channels more effectively, with the goal of increasing long-term profitability for hotels and ensuring they are able to maximize their direct channel business during high-demand periods. This is a significant step in our journey to move to a net revenue approach for each segment of the business. Marriott is committed to driving the highest value customers at the lowest cost of sale to hotels.

A webinar was held on December 14 for owners and franchise management companies, and a recording of that webinar is now available on MGS. Additionally, details are also available on the Revenue Management Business Processes page on MGS.
