One Yield v2 2017 Year-End Update
Marriott Rewards Owners & Franchise Management Companies | One Yield v2 is now successfully deployed at all Marriott Rewards hotels in the U.S. and Canada and we appreciate your support in implementing the new system. As you know, in addition to delivering improved science and an enhanced user experience, One Yield v2 is also a pre-requisite for ERS (Enhanced Reservation Solution) which will allow for a new booking experience with a new approach to merchandising and selling hotel accommodations. As we continue to launch innovations to One Yield v2 in an effort to drive top line revenues at your hotels, we wanted to take the opportunity to share some updates and accomplishments.
One Yield v2 Business Results
Pilot hotels using One Yield v2 outperformed control group hotels that were not yet on the system. As we continue to monitor hotel usage, please review the results seen from the pilot hotels:
- RevPAR Uplift: Median incremental RevPAR increased by 1.4 points for pilot hotels more than their corresponding control set
- Occupancy Growth: Median occupancy increased by 1.1% without sacrificing average daily rate (ADR). The strongest results were seen on shoulder nights and Sundays
- Sell-Out Efficiency: Pilot hotels saw the number of sell-outs increase on days where there was enough market demand to sell-out
- Trusting the System: Hotels that use the system recommendations and don’t over-ride more than 15% of the time, see greater benefits in revenue uplift
Owner Webinar FAQs
A webinar was held to discuss One Yield v2 business results in more detail. Review the FAQs.
One Yield v2 Certification Audit
In early 2018, an audit will be conducted of all One Yield v2 users with ‘Update Access’ to ensure users have passed the system certification requirement. Additional information about how to become certified will be sent soon, and will include a deadline for ‘Update Access’ users to become certified. Users that do not become certified by the deadline will have their system access adjusted to ‘Read Only’.
New Hotel Openings
As of Nov. 1, 2017, any newly opened Marriott Rewards hotel will operate solely on One Yield v2 and will immediately receive a demand forecast, a major benefit to the hotel. With One Yield v2, a new hotel receives yield management systems before ever selling in the future. Additionally, One Yield v2 will produce hurdles and send them to MARSHA from the first time MARSHA is open to sell.
Please also note the following important information:
- As previously communicated, users that require ‘Update Access’ to the system will need to take and pass the One Yield v2 Certification Exam, after completing the required eLearning modules. Certification is now required for ‘Update Access’ in One Yield v2
- If your property uses Revenue Management Remote Solutions (RMRS), then your property’s certification requirement has been met
SWAT Support – MSB Franchise U.S. only
As part of the One Yield v2 deployment strategy, all franchised Marriott Rewards MSB hotels participated in SWAT support that assisted with monitoring hotels to ensure that due dates were completed throughout the deployment process. Hotels received a $32 charge that is reflected in their December statement as “SWAT Support: OYV2 Training.” This charge covers the cost related to engaging franchise MSB hotels, which was crucial to the project deployment completion.
Explore Rate Automation
In partnership with Human Resources and the Global Room Rate Discount Policy, One Yield v2 enforces the implementation of the Explore Rate, Marriott’s hotel discount program, allocating a minimum of 3%-5% (dependent upon brand) of the hotel’s total capacity to its standard (or predominant when standard is not majority) room types for the Explore Rate within 90 days from arrival for nights where the hotel is forecasting to be less than 85% occupancy.
The Explore Rate is governed by Global Room Rate Discount Policy (BEN-21) (HR-075) which provides details and terms of the policy to ensure a fair and consistent delivery of Marriott’s hotel discount program across all Managed by Marriott (MxM) and Franchised hotels.
