Personal Safety Alert Device Test Underway
U.S. Only | The safety and security of guests, associates, and visitors are among Marriott’s highest priorities. Marriott has long-established processes and procedures in place to address both safety and security.
According to the American Hotel and Lodging Association:
Our industry has in place procedures and protocols for employees around reporting and prevention, and these are continuously reviewed and updated. As an industry, we will continue our work, day in and day out, with a focus on ensuring America’s hotels are secure places for all those who work and visit them.
In support of this effort, Marriott has partnered with others across the industry to test and implement trainings and other solutions. The most recent initiative includes the development of a personal safety alert device, which would sound an audible alarm when pushed and connect with a property’s on-site security or hotel management. Currently in pilot with a small subset of hotels across the U.S., this device is expected to comply with municipal ordinances requiring such associate alarms and will likely be offered at a significantly reduced cost compared to other products on the market.
We will continue to provide updates as the testing progresses, but we encourage hotels to delay signing long-term contracts with other vendors at this time.
