New Process Changes for Transient High Touch Bookings

As you know, the new group commission policy for intermediaries in North America went live March 31, 2018. In working through these changes, it is important to know of a related process change that will need to be incorporated by associates entering leads to ensure commission payments are paid correctly for intermediaries booking Transient High Touch Bookings.

Marriott’s new Transient High Touch Bookings process applies to transient business with fewer than 10 peak room nights across the Entertainment (all hotels); Diplomat (Luxury hotels); and Family Leisure (Luxury hotels) segments. This new segment is defined by bookings of nine rooms or less on peak, requiring a high level of personalized service and booked via a group sales system.

With the new group commission policy, there is a risk of this business being paid a 7% commission when it should be paid at 10%. For Marriott Rewards hotels where payments will be made through CTAC’s Group Commission Program, the agency will be paid according to the transient policy. For SPG and The Ritz-Carlton hotels, commission should be paid at 10% at the property level.

These leads will be tracked via the name Transient High Touch Bookings and the Distribution Audit and Compliance process. Associates entering applicable leads into Sales systems should take steps to ensure the group is 10% commissionable because it is a Transient High Touch Booking. Details will be shared with hotels via the April 30 Weekly Update.
