Residence Inn: Make a Green Choice Option Available
Residence Inn Owners & Franchise Management Companies | Residence Inn hotels in the U.S. and Canada now have the option to participate in Make A Green Choice, Marriott’s guest-facing sustainability and loyalty program that enables participating guests to help reduce their environmental footprint while earning Marriott Rewards bonus points.
Make a Green Choice is open to all guests staying at least two nights or more, regardless of rate plan or booking method. For each day a Rewards member forgoes housekeeping by contacting the Front Desk and putting out the Green Choice door hanger, they earn 250 Marriott Rewards bonus points while helping reduce water, energy, and use of chemicals.
Hotel Benefits

- Enrollment of new members
- Allow hotels to focus staff on rooms that wish to receive service
- Supports overall sustainability efforts
Review program details on the Make a Green Choice page on MGS. If you choose to encourage your hotels to participate, then take the following steps to opt into and prepare for the new Make a Green Choice program at your hotel(s):
- Hotels that wish to participate should opt into the program by April 20 using the Land-it tasklist pushed to properties on April 9 (eBonus tool access is required)
- Participating hotels should complete remaining Land-it tasklist items prior to May 11, the Make a Green Choice go-live date
- Ensure all stakeholders are engaged, including, but not limited to, IT, market leadership, accounting, and operations
The cost of the Make a Green Choice program is limited to initial program collateral, eBonus points awarded ($1.62/250 points), and a one-time fee of $4.80 per room (included in 2018 budget instructions), which will be used toward further automation within FOSSE.
