Le Méridien Presents Au Soleil: A Summer Soirée

Inspired by the brand’s French heritage, the allure of the Côte d’Azur and paying homage to Mediterranean beach life of the mid-century, Le Méridien recently celebrated the global launch of Au Soleil: A Summer Soirée by Le Méridien by kicking off a global series of events that aims to transport travelers to chase eternal summers where the sun never sets on the jet-set: from Nice to Noumea and from Barcelona to Bora Bora.

Au Soleil: a Summer Soirée debuted at Le Méridien Beach Plaza in Monte Carlo with music performances by Nouvelle Vague and DJ Inès Mélia, a custom built rosé bar and beachside bites. From there, the programme launched at recently renovated Le Méridien Ra in Spain which rolled out its signature Gelato truck and summer programme anchored by its buzzy beach club on one of Catalonia’s matchless beaches where guests can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, sparkling cocktails and live music well into the evening.

To continue momentum for its Au Soleil: A Summer Soirée series, Le Méridien threw a stylish party in Beverly Hills on Thursday, July 12. Hosted by California-based French artist and Atelier Doré founder, Garance Doré, it took inspiration from the playful glamour of 1960s Europe, and was the first in the new “Au Soleil” program of voguish, exclusive parties that Le Méridien is presenting around the globe. Doré, who was tapped as the creative consultant for the series, welcomed Clare Vivier, Heidi Merrick, John Frierson, Jessica de Ruiter, Kate Butler and other guests to the private midcentury estate (once home to Elvis Presley) for an evening of rosé spritzers, petit plates, and games of bocce ball and backgammon—a beloved Mediterranean pastime.

Following these highly successful launch events in Monaco, Spain and Los Angeles, Le Méridien hotels have started activating the programme across continents. Examples in the U.S. and Canada include:

  • Le Méridien Denver has developed a full summer programme with activities every day of the week, ranging from classic cinema screening and Sparkling Rosé cocktails to backgammon and rose in Le Meridien Hub on Sundays, Au Soleil evenings at their rooftop bar on Thursdays and much more. In addition, the hotel offers complimentary Priority bikes for guests and a Range Rover (in a one mile range from the hotel) to visit the city of Denver.
  • Le Méridien Versailles (Montreal) hosted a launch event at the end of June, and their summer programming includes weekly after works on Thursdays with their exclusive rosé bar, backgammon, gelato and petit plates prepared by their new Italian-inspired restaurant Maiolo.
  • Le Méridien Indianapolis recently hosted an event with Bocce, beach bistro seating with a cold crew/coffee cart and rosé station, as well as an area for straw hats and rosé-inspired lipsticks.
  • Le Méridien New Orleans has featured signature rosé cocktails throughout their summer bar menu, as well as activations from local vendors who provide sample cocktails. During Sparkling hour, they again feature signature rose cocktails, and have new petit plates and custom backgammon sets for those interested in gaming. They recently commemorated Bastille Day with a weekend long celebration, the weekend of July 14, which featured a Tour de France-inspired morning with breakfast and package specials featuring espresso and eclairs, cappuccino and croissants, followed by a French Riviera-styled pool activation with music featuring Nouvelle Vague.
  • Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica hosted their launch event in July with celebrity attendance such as Francesca Eastwood (daughter of Clint Eastwood), Alexander Wraith (Orange is the New Black), and more. During the summer they are offering a selection of events such as Splashin’ Backgammon poolside soirees and Rosé & Illustrate sessions.
