Loyalty Inventory Control Dates
Marriott is currently planning to eliminate the use of Inventory Control Dates (ICDs) as part of our new, combined Loyalty program. This will take place at the end of 2019. Hotels of legacy Marriott brands may continue to use ICDs in 2019 and can set them up in High Performance Pricing (HPP). Hotels are encouraged to evaluate the need to use ICDs in 2019 to assist in driving revenue on high-demand nights (e.g., for a special event), taking into consideration that limiting reward redemption stays at the property could negatively impact the hotel’s redemption penetration and therefore the hotel’s redemption schedule for the following year.
While ICDs are not being rolled out to legacy Starwood brands, the Loyalty program is working on an interim pilot program, which will be announced in Q1 2019. This interim pilot program will be geared towards legacy Starwood hotels with standard reimbursement rates on sellout nights at less than 80% of the day’s Undiluted ADR.
Note, this information was shared with HPP contacts on Dec. 13 and will be included in the Dec. 17 Weekly Update. As always, thank you for your partnership as we work to develop a long-term solution.
