Marriott Bonvoy Now Live

Marriott International has completed the unification of its award-winning loyalty programs. As of Feb. 13, Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and SPG have officially become Marriott Bonvoy™. Marriott Bonvoy represents new travel opportunities for our 120 million members around the globe.

As a reminder, under Marriott Bonvoy, there will be no programmatic changes to the benefits and amenities – including co-brand credit cards – members enjoyed under Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and SPG. However, beginning today:

  • A new, single website and app have launched, helping to create an even more streamlined user experience
    • The Marriott Rewards app has been updated, becoming the Marriott Bonvoy app
    • The SPG and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards apps have been deactivated (users will be prompted to download the new Marriott Bonvoy app)
  • Marriott Gift Cards have expanded to allow guests to transact across the entire portfolio
  • Two updated Elite tier names go into effect:
    • Platinum Premier Elite level is now Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite
    • Platinum Premier Elite with Ambassador level is now Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite
  • Meeting Planners can continue to earn points for eligible meetings and events organized at hotels and resorts that participate in Marriott Bonvoy EventsSM, which is the new name for Marriott Rewarding EventsSM

Looking ahead, Category 8 will be introduced when annual category changes take effect on March 5, and seasonal pricing – including peak and off-peak – will launch later in 2019.

Reminders for Management Companies | Hotel Activation
Hotels have been preparing to activate the new program since the Marriott Bonvoy program name was announced on January 16, 2019. Now that the program is live, hotels are asked to:

  • Retire all Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and SPG branded collateral from all guest-facing areas of the hotel and display new Marriott Bonvoy collateral (view Shipments / Collateral MGS page).
  • Greet members as a Marriott Bonvoy member and by their new membership tier name, if it has changed.
  • Download new program digital files from the Mobile Marketing MGS page and update digital signage on property, as applicable.

By Feb. 20, GMs should complete the Certification Milestone in Land-It. In Q2, hotels will prepare for the Cobalt Program Evolution, Luxury Credit Card Activation, and next phase of Marriott Gift Card Expansion. View Land-It and MGS (Cobalt Program Evolution, Luxury Credit Cards & Global Gift Cards) for details.

Hotels with questions regarding Loyalty 2019 implementation are asked to submit a ticket using ServiceNow (SNOW).
