FSPMS “Unicorn” and FOSSE Late Cancellation Functionality Update | June 2019
In October 2018, the Unicorn tool was launched for FSPMS Hotels in the U.S. & Canada with the goal of achieving quick improvements in the arrival process, and, more specifically, creating operations tools and solutions that complement current systems. The tool uses Secure CRT, which FSPMS hotels use to access their system, and Excel to process data and emulate key strokes in FSPMS for time-consuming, manual or repetitive tasks. Functionality within the tool’s release included:
- Late Cancellation Fee Charging
- Mobile Check-In and Key Packet Inserts
- Advance Deposit Processing
- Arrival Audit
- Report Generator to Excel
All Managed by Marriott (MxM) FSPMS hotels were required to install the tool and execute the late cancellation function daily. These hotels have experienced an increase of 177% in Late Cancellation Collection during Q1 of 2019. While not required, we strongly recommend franchise hotels install and utilize the Unicorn tool, which is a zero-cost resource. Hotels are able to use the self-service instructions on MGS to install. Should your hotel(s) develop questions while installing, please open a service ticket via our existing support channels. Additional information is available on MGS.
FOSSE
This month, select FOSSE hotels will pilot functionality that will automate the identification and execution of late cancellation and guaranteed no-show (GNS) charges during the hotel night audit. This enhancement will prevent the manual work needed to apply these charges to each reservation. The automation will support the existing processes hotels should be executing today and follow the same logic as outlined on existing Job Aids for each task. After the enhancement, hotels will experience the following:
- Automated functionality turned on by default.
- Franchise FOSSE hotels will have the ability to turn on/off the functionality in their system setup options. This will require Security Levels 51 (AGM) and 50 (GM).
- Hotels will run their automated Final Night Audit process as done today and all reservations will be handled and processed automatically.
- For cancellations, a report will be available to show why reservations were charged or not charged, and what may need to be reviewed and charged manually.
