Timeline for GM/Sales Leader Hiring Standard, Effective Immediately


Marriott International opened a record number of hotels across the U.S. and Canada in both emerging and strong markets over the past several years. As we strive to prepare hotels to reach their highest potential in operational and financial success, we have identified the critical need to implement a new requirement across all pre-opening hotels in the Americas, effective immediately:

  • All Marriott Select Brand hotels: must hire the General Manager and Sales Leader at least six to nine months prior to hotel opening to participate in critical tasks outlined for a successful opening process.
  • All Full-Service hotels: must hire the General Manager and Sales Leader at least nine to twelve months prior to hotel opening to participate in critical tasks outlined for a successful opening process.

If the position(s) are not hired within the required timeframe, we reserve the right to push the hotel’s opening date to a later timeframe. This new requirement increases efficiency and the success of the opening process. This new standard can be found on MGS (MSB Standard | Full-Service Standard) and applies to currently approved projects in the pipeline.
