Automated Process for Cancellation and Guaranteed No-Show (GNS) Charges at FOSSE Hotels
This information will be communicated to hotels via the October 7 Weekly Update.
Effective October 14, FOSSE hotels will now have an automated process for the identification and execution of late cancellation and guaranteed no-show (GNS) charges. The automated late cancellation process will only apply to transient reservations (group reservations will be automated later this year) and will automatically run during the hotel night audit. For more details on this process, see the CXL Process – Automated job aid. The GNS process will automatically run prior to first shift for both group & transient no-shows as well. For more details, see the GNS Process – Automated job aid.
This enhancement will prevent the manual work needed to apply these charges to each reservation. The automation will support the existing processes hotels should be executing today and follow the same logic as outlined in the existing Cancellation Job Aid and Advance Deposit Cancellations. Pilot hotels between June and August found a 112% increase in cancellation revenue and a 25% increase in GNS revenue via the FOSSE automated processes.
After the enhancement, hotels will experience the following:
- Automated functionality turned on by default.
- Franchise FOSSE hotels will have the ability to turn off the functionality in their system setup options. This will require Security Levels 51 (AGM) and 50 (GM).
- Cancellation and GNS reports will be available to show why reservations were charged or not charged, and what may need to be reviewed and charged manually.
