In addition to the recorded version and PDF of the presentation, please also note the following resources:

  • One Yield Standard Room Limit Enhancement
    • The One Yield team is pleased to introduce the One Yield Standard Room Limit, an exciting enhancement that will allow for greater flexibility to limit your standard rooms authorization and support your hotel’s strategy around premium room revenue.
    • The enhancement provides the ability to set a limit for standard room pool authorization and provide Revenue Managers with greater flexibility to influence room pool availability to support their hotel’s specific revenue strategy. It also helps to ensure the delivery of guaranteed bed-type, which will help drive guest satisfaction.
    • The Standard Room Limit launches November 11. No action is required by hotels; hotels are not required to use the limit settings and some hotels will not have a need for them.
    • Available Resources include:
  • Windows 10 and Server 2008
    • Windows 10
All Windows 7 devices must be replaced or re-imaged prior to January 8, 2020

      • Actions to take by November 18:
        • Submit orders via Insight for devices that need to be replaced
          • Once received, submit ServiceNow ticket for final setup/top-off
        • Submit ServiceNow ticket for devices that can be re-imaged
      • Available Resources include:
    • Server 2008

      • Extended Support must be purchased for all servers remaining on 2008 after the end of January 2020 and must be purchased by December 2019
      • Actions to take:
        • All properties with Opera PMS will need to order extended support for all of the Opera-related servers at their properties (including application/database, Dataguard, OXI and Interface – most hotels will have 3 or 4 servers depending on the install date)
        • All other servers that will not be moved to 2012 or 2016 by the end of January will need to purchase extended support as well
        • Hotels with servers running 2008 on the Marriott network will be contacted with options for upgrading this year or will need to purchase extended support
      • Available Resources include:
  • CCPA Update
    • The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) comes into effect on January 1, 2020, giving California residents more control over their personal information. The CCPA allows California residents to request that a company not sell their data, and make access and deletion requests. Although this is a California law, all hotels should be familiar with the CCPA as California residents may inquire about their rights at any of our hotels.
    • CCPA Focus Areas Include:
      1. “Do Not Sell” My Personal Information
        • Marriott is currently evaluating whether to include a “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link on its website and the Bonvoy app
      2. Individual Privacy Rights & Access/Deletion Requests
        • Marriott has developed an internal process to handle guest access and deletion requests for guest Personal Information from Marriott’s global centralized systems
        • If your hotel receives an individual rights request for Personal Information from Marriott’s global centralized systems, direct the guest to:
          • Marriott’s California Individual Rights Portal
          • Marriott’s toll-free number (1-800-218-9316)
          • privacy@marriott.com
      3. Notice
        • Marriott will be updating Marriott’s Global Privacy Statement to acknowledge the CCPA, which will include a link to a separate California Consumer Privacy Act Statement
        • For now hotels can familiarize themselves with the Marriott Global Privacy Statement and the California Consumer Privacy Act Statement on Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy app
      4. Training & Awareness
        • Marriott has a Global Privacy training course and will continue to revise it in 2020 to include references to the CCPA
        • Ensure hotel associates make take the Global Privacy training (MyLearning Course #1007169)
          • The training is mandatory for franchise General Managers and recommended for any other franchise employee who has exposure to customer data
      5. Important Reminders
        • Marriott does not allow managed or franchised hotels to conduct B2C email marketing outside of the Email Marketing Platform (this includes marketing and service emails, mobile push messaging and SMS)
        • Marriott does not support off-platform email solutions as these create risk under data privacy and anti-spam laws
        • See Marriott’s Consumer Email Marketing Standard on MGS
        • All Marriott branded websites must conform with the Marriott Off-Platform and Apps Standard on MGS
    • Available Resources include:
  • Associate Alert Devices
    • The legislative deadline for New Jersey hotels to have an Associate Alert Device installed is December 11, 2019
    • The legislative deadline for Washington hotels to have an Associate Alert Device installed is January 1, 2020
    • Franchised hotels are permitted to install an alert system using any vendor, however the brand standard requires certain components, including:
      • Reliable geolocation capability with the ability to locate associates to room-level accuracy
      • System coverage in all guest rooms, public restrooms, spa treatment rooms, housekeeping closets, and service landings on guest floors
    • The Talent Point by Marriott team has added AT&T and Assa Abloy as preferred vendors to their portfolio of optional HR offerings available to franchisees. As part of the Talent Point offering, franchisees will have access to these vendors at volume-discounted rates for their entire portfolio, including non-Marriott flagged properties. By selecting an approved vendor through Talent Point by Marriott, hotels will be compliant with the Marriott Brand Standard.
    • All hotels in North America will receive the Property Readiness Survey in November via The Weekly Update.  This survey will provide the preferred vendors with the necessary information to compile property-specific bids.  All hotels are encouraged to select one of the Marriott Preferred Vendors, available through Talent Point by Marriott.
