Franchise Fee Reminders and Updated Guidance on Service Animals
The following information is being shared with hotels via the Weekly Update.
Franchised hotels are reminded it may be necessary, based on the individual franchise agreement of your hotel, to accrue franchise fees related to transient cancellation revenue, pet fees, resort fees, destination fees and any other revenue attributable to guest room sales recorded in a department other than room revenues. Franchise fees related to these revenues will continue to be invoiced as part of the annual revenue-based fee audit.
Please note however that service animals are not considered pets. Hotels must ensure that they follow the guidance found in the Pet Policy (OPS-FRO-119) standard for guests with service animals. Hotels should print new pet acceptance forms and begin using them immediately. Pet programs and pet fees must align with the standard by Dec. 31.
