U.S. & Canada Franchise Update | July 8, 2021

Canada Only | Updated Face Covering Guidance for Guests in Canada

It is no longer mandatory for guests to wear face coverings in jurisdictions where they are no longer required indoors. Hotels should follow their provincial guidance, unless their local municipal/regional guidance is more stringent and should continue to follow all other Commitment to Clean protocols. Refer to the Operations Alert, issued earlier today, for additional details.

Review Residential Bath Amenities Implementation Schedule
Review the Residential Amenities Implementation Schedule and take required action by brand-specific deadlines to: 1) order brackets, 2) pay for brackets 3) order products and 4) install brackets and products. Not following these deadlines will put the hotel at risk of running out of single-use products and/or not begin compliant with brand standard by July 2022 as required. Implementation resources will be available to ensure hotels can prepare for installation process.

Purchase POSReady7 Extended Support by July 12 or Replace System by Oct. 12
All hotels running the Windows Embedded 6.1 POSReady7 operating system regardless of the POS version or hosting environment will reach end of life on Oct. 12. To maintain security compliance and avoid loss of service, hotels must either purchase the one-year Extended Security Update (ESU) activation key for each impacted workstation (U.S. | Canada) or replace hardware with certified workstation models by Oct. 12. There will not be an extension to purchase the ESU and hotels that do not do so by July 12 will be required to purchase and install new POS workstations before Oct.12. Note: The ESU is a one-year solution and still requires workstation replacement prior to Oct. 2022.
