Global Property Management System | August 2014 Update
The GPMS project remains on schedule and on budget, and we will begin beta testing of OPERA at CFRST (FOSSE) properties in November. Pilots will then take place during the first quarter of 2015.
Implementation Update
The GPMS Implementation Team has identified the list of CFRST (FOSSE) hotels that are scheduled to convert to GPMS OPERA in 2015, starting with pilots in Q1. This list was developed with server age as the primary consideration because older servers present a higher risk of failure. The specific rollout timeline has not yet been established, however hotels with newer servers will be placed toward the end of the rollout schedule.
For budgeting purposes, the list of CFRST hotels targeted for GPMS installation in 2015 can be found on MGS. These properties should review the 2015 CapEx and Operating Budget Guidelines and plan accordingly. Note: Operating Budget guidelines will be available for Marriott-managed hotels by mid-September and for franchised hotels by late September.
As previously communicated, the installation schedule for remaining CFRST and all full service hotels will be available in early 2015. Beta testing and pilots for full service hotels will take place in late 2015.
New Openings
New opening hotels will be able to implement GPMS at the beginning of the rollout. This means that CFRST new openings will receive GPMS beginning in January 2015 and Full Service new openings will receive GPMS beginning in November 2015.
FOSSE/FSPMS Third-Party Interface Vendors
In preparation for the GPMS OPERA rollout, hotels should verify that their third-party interfaces are supported by MICROS prior to signing or renewing contracts. The full list of third-party interfaces supported by MICROS, a list of products that commonly interface with FOSSE/FSPMS (e.g., Call Accounting, Parking Systems, Voice Mail), and FAQs are available on MGS.
MPLS Network | Technical Requirements
Since GPMS OPERA will be hosted above-property, we will be deploying a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network with higher service levels to hotels approximately 60 days prior to the installation of GPMS.
- CFRST (FOSSE) Properties: The MPLS network will use existing connectivity to the Internet, but will only carry GPMS OPERA data traffic, which will ensure a better level of application performance. Verizon is the MPLS vendor for CFRST hotels. Note: this has been included in the budget instructions for hotels targeted for GPMS OPERA installation in 2015.
- Full Service (FSPMS) Properties: The MPLS network will require the installation of a new circuit, and AT&T is the MPLS vendor for Full Service hotels.
