Marriott Hotels “Win the Stay” Follow Up
In support of our Mobile-Digital strategy for 2016, we wanted to share details regarding how we are continuing to lead the rollout of new initiatives with the Marriott Hotels (MH) brand.
MOBILE KEY: MH INCENTIVE AND ACCELERATION PLAN
As you should have just seen, Marriott is preparing to launch our Mobile Key initiative and we are accelerating deployment to launch Mobile Key at all Marriott Hotels by the end of Q4, 2017. This will be a brand standard for MH, which will be enforced beginning in 2018.
We are asking you to support your MH properties in being the first Marriott brand to offer the Mobile Key experience. To help facilitate the deployment of the guestroom lock standard and Mobile Key solution, Marriott International will provide a one-time incentive of up to $75 per lock to Marriott Hotels to help offset the cost of lock retrofits or replacements.
As outlined in the 2016 Budget Instructions, the estimated costs to implement to Guestroom Lock standard and Mobile Key offering are as follows:
One-Time Costs: The installation cost for a typical 400-room hotel is estimated to be $85K, which is based on $205 per replaced lock and additional installation costs*.
Ongoing Costs: The operating costs are estimated to be $4,500 per year for a typical 400-room hotel, which is based on an $8-$10 per lock annual licensing fee.
*Additional BLE costs may depend on requirements for new doors, on-property lock server/PC, additional encoders, handheld lock programmer/interrogators, public space readers, shipping, taxes, etc. Mobile Key Station Hardware is estimated to be $3,500 per station; one station recommended per elevator bank on lobby level. Full deployment of Key Station will not begin until Q4, 2016.
This information will be communicated to GMs of all MH properties in the U.S. and Canada in early Q1 2016. GMs will be asked to complete and return a site survey from their lock vendor, receive and sign a quote, and schedule installation. We encourage you to support your GMs in taking advantage of this incentive and begin scheduling lock installations as soon as possible.
Additional information is available on MGS. For any additional questions, email mobileservices@marriott.com.
GUESTROOM ENTERTAINMENT: EXTENDED MH INCENTIVE
To ensure all MH properties have an opportunity to take advantage of this incentive, Marriott will be extending the incentive of $4/room/month for one year, through Nov. 1, 2016. In order to be eligible for the incentive, MH properties must show a proof of contract with an approved provider by Nov. 1, 2016.
All MH properties interested in receiving this one-time incentive, that have not already done so, should note their interest within Land-It by Jan. 31, 2016 and proceed with existing Land-It tasks to install the new platform, as well as complete the Property Information Survey and upload their completed survey to SharePoint.
Please also note that Sonifi has agreed to dissolve any existing long-term contracts for hotels installing the Guestroom Entertainment Platform, given they install Sonifi-provided Video on Demand (VOD) as an over-the-top application (i.e., Netflix, and YouTube) and keep it for three years. As a reminder, the only approved providers of the Guestroom Entertainment platform are Enseo, Guest-tek and World Cinema. Additional details regarding how to dissolve Sonifi contracts and install VOD will be provided to GMs in early 2016.
As a reminder, Guestroom Entertainment is the brand standard for the US & Canada. If you have any questions, visit MGS or email GuestroomEntertainment@marriott.com.
