Marriott International Announces Bob Jones to Retire
After nearly 43 years of distinguished service, Bob Jones, Area Vice President for the Full Service OFS portfolio, has announced his plans to retire from the company on May 20, 2016.
Throughout his career, Bob has served as an exceptional leader in a variety of roles and capacities. Bob was hired on June 26, 1973 as a Staff Accountant at the original Corporate Office, which was then located on River Road. He later joined the Hotel Division as a Controller and held that position at several hotels. He was promoted to Regional Controller supporting legendary leaders such as Bus Ryan and Lucio Benedetto, and also served as the Area Controller for Paul Reed during his career before moving over to the Golf Division. He then served as the General Manager of several Full Service hotels, such as the Gaithersburg Marriott, the Hanover Marriott, the Long Beach Marriott, and the Philadelphia Airport Marriott, where he became a mentor and coach to many new managers who have since grown into senior leaders in our company.
Over the last 11 years, Bob built and maintained relationships with many of our owners and franchise management companies while sharing his vast knowledge of hotel operations with his stakeholders, while also influencing owners to invest in their hotels, and our brands. Bob’s background in the finance arena, combined with operations as well as leadership skills, allowed him to succeed in his role.
Bob is an avid Penn State fan who rarely misses a home football game, as well as an accomplished golfer. We are very proud of everything Bob has accomplished on behalf of Marriott and the incredible leadership and loyalty he has demonstrated for so many years to support both our brands, and our franchise partners, and want to thank him for his positive spirit, efforts, energy and dedication to the success of the company.
