Marriott International Announces Scott Allison to Retire

After an impressive 43-year career in tourism, Scott Allison, Vice President, Owner & Franchise Relations and Operations for Marriott Hotels of Canada, has announced his plans to retire effective March 31, 2016.

Scott began his 16-year career with Marriott as Regional Vice President of Sales for Canada, and his growing roles and responsibilities have reflected his expertise, leadership and enthusiasm to take on new challenges. Scott has been a part of the team that helped grow Marriott in Canada from 22 hotels to more than 90 hotels. In his current role, he wears two hats in which he builds and maintains owner and franchise relationships in Canada as well as holding responsibility for several Marriott-managed hotels. Most recently, Scott was a key member of the team that successfully integrated Delta Hotels and Resorts into the Marriott family.

Scott’s business acumen is matched by his dedication to investing in our people, community service, and mentoring young people. This dedication was recently recognized when he was honored with the 2015 Hotel Association of Canada Humanitarian Award. Scott has been a part of the leadership team that has consistently won Canada’s top employer designation. He is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Tourism Commission as well as chair of the Human Resources committee and a member of the Audit and Pension committee. Scott is also on the Board of Governors for Centennial College.

Scott frequently says that the hospitality industry is fortunate to have “the pleasure of selling people great memories and experiences, even if only for their business travel.” His good nature and willingness to help others will be missed as much as his dedication, expertise and professionalism.

We wish him all the best as he spends more time with his family, taking sports car trips through back country roads across Canada and the U.S., and enjoying classic rock & roll and the blues.
