Explore Rate – Minimum Room Authorization Caps

As recently communicated when the new Explore Rates program was announced, Marriott has been working on automation solutions to ensure that Explore Rates are available to eligible associates, owners and franchisees in accordance with the program policies.

We are pleased to announce that the first phase of automation – Minimum Room Authorization Caps (MRAC) – will be implemented into MARSHA on December 12, 2016. The MRAC program will calculate and define the appropriate number of rooms that need to be authorized to the Explore rate based upon the total hotel capacity and appropriate brand (5% of capacity for all brands except Ritz-Carlton, which is 3%). If the hotel has multiple rate programs built in the Explore Rate offer, MRAC will proportionately distribute that percentage across the defined Explore Rate codes based on room pool capacity. Hotels will be able to increase their caps above the minimum set in MARSHA, but will not be able to decrease below the appropriate amount. Please note: these changes will only apply when Explore rates are open in the system.

Revenue Managers will receive details, including action steps to prepare, via direct email. Further details will be shared as additional automation solutions are developed. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please let us know.
