Marriott Hotels M Club Lounge Update – January 2017

The M Club Lounge is a key proof point for the Marriott Hotels brand, and its designation is reserved only for lounges that have been certified in accordance with the M Club Lounge standard. As previously communicated, Marriott has been developing and testing an M Club Lounge property training and certification process to further ensure that we are providing a sophisticated, rewarding, and elevated M Club Lounge experience.

We are pleased to announce that we have completed the development of a digital, interactive myLearning training that will go hand-in-hand with the M Club Lounge Design and Operations Programming Guide. At this time, we are now ready to begin the official certification process for M Club Lounges. As a reminder, this involves three primary steps:

  1. Design Certification — confirmed by the Design Review Confirmation email issued by Global Design, which verifies that the project has been completed according to the M Club Lounge Design Standards.
  2. Operational Standard Certification — confirmed by email verification from Christoph Roshardt (MxM) or Guy Reinbold (Franchise) confirming that the property is operating according to the M Club Lounge Operations Standards.
  3. Training Completion — confirmation from myLearning that the M Club Lounge core property team has completed the online training.

All open M Club Lounges are to complete the necessary steps for certification by July 1, 2017. The collection and submission of the above materials (e.g., the certification “process”) will be managed by GMs and their executive teams. Review and certification of the M Club Lounge will be managed by Marriott’s AVPs. Visit the Training & Certification section of the M Club Lounge MGS page for more details regarding this process.

We understand that several architectural elements on property are permanent and require a significant investment to modify. As such, proof-of-concept and pilot M Club Lounges may retain their current design and are exempt from making any substantial design modifications. However, due to the importance of delivering on operational criteria of the M Club Lounge standard to guests, we will be asking that all M Club Lounges, inclusive of proof-of-concept and pilot hotels, comply with all M Club Lounge standards pertaining to operations and training. Proof-of-concept and pilot M Club Lounges are those completed and open as of January 1, 2017.

Thank you for your continued leadership and support in rolling out an elevated concierge lounge experience that strongly resonates with guests. We value your partnership and participation as we continue to progress the M Club Lounge and further enhance the Marriott Hotels brand.
