Mobile Key Contract Update – August 2017
As previously communicated, deployment resumed in May at MH, Moxy, and AC-branded hotels in the U.S. and Canada for Mobile Key, with contracts being finalized with Saflok (Dorma Kaba) and Assa Aboly (Ving) as certified lock vendors. We would like to announce additional vendor options for BLE RFID locks due to newly-negotiated contracts with Onity. The new contracts contain both a software and hardware agreement with added liability and indemnification protections. The Mobile Key Lock Standard, which includes both RFID BLE locks (for all hotels) and Marriott-imaged networked servers (for hotels on the Marriott network), has been updated to include the following certified lock vendors: Saflok (Dorma Kaba), Assa Abloy (Ving), and Onity. At this time, there are no plans to have additional certified lock vendors. SPG Keyless properties (W, Aloft, Element) should continue to install locks by Assa Abloy (Ving). Mobile Key Deployment Update – Marriott Rewards-Participating Properties
Mobile Key deployment at MH, Moxy, and AC-branded hotels in the U.S. and Canada that opted to wait for Onity to become a certified lock vendor will now resume deployment. These hotels will be notified with deployment details in the coming weeks.
As a reminder, to help facilitate the deployment of the Mobile Key Lock Standard for MH-branded in the U.S. and Canada, Marriott International will provide a one-time incentive of $75 per lock to help offset the cost of lock retrofits or replacements completed by Dec. 31, 2017.
For additional details, reference the Implementation tab on the Mobile Key MGS page.
SPG Keyless Deployment – SPG-Participating Properties
SPG Keyless is currently live across over 180 hotels globally, and will be deployed to new opening hotels, as well as over 20 existing Aloft, Element, and W hotels this year under the guidance of the SPG Keyless Project team. SPG Keyless is a brand standard at W, Aloft, and Element brands. The approved lock vendor for these three brands is Assa Abloy (Ving). In 2018, all SPG Keyless hotels will transition to the Marriott Mobile Key solution. To prepare for the transition of all SPG Keyless hotels to the Marriott Mobile Key solution, all hotels outside of the W, Aloft, and Element brands are recommended to continue installing RFID BLE locks compatible with the Lock Standard, with Saflok (Dorma Kaba), Assa Abloy (Ving), or Onity.
