Upcoming Transition to Windows 10 Enterprise/Office 2016

Marriott recently launched Windows 10 Enterprise and Office 2016 as the new technology standard for Marriott computers across all brands due to the end of Microsoft’s support for previous software versions. As a result, all computers on the Marriott network must be upgraded to Windows 10 Enterprise and Office 2016 by September 2019 as part of Marriott’s End User Computing and Collaboration Strategy. Windows 10 offers numerous benefits to owners and franchisees, including:

  • A dynamic start menu that can be customized to your preferences and keep your most important apps at your fingertips
  • Faster, more responsive design with a new modern browser for web and touch screen capabilities
  • Customizable notifications and alerts center
  • Seamless transition between computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Marriott-networked PCs which currently use Windows 10 Professional will need to migrate to the Windows 10 Enterprise, and will be addressed as part of the Integration and Property migration set of projects across all continents. For those impacted properties, we recommend coordination with your continent iT contact (or Franchise Technology POC) to be sure that this operating system migration is noted as part of ongoing iT Health assessments on property.

After September 2019, non-compliant computers will be unable to access the Marriott network. We recommend that you review your total PC inventory and plan for PC purchases and upgrades. The 2018 CAPEX & OPEX Guidelines (Managed by Marriott Owners | Franchise Management Companies) include requirements and costs should you wish to review.
