Marriott iT “BigFix Relay” Installation
Marriott Rewards Franchisees | BigFix, the application that enables Marriott iT to remotely deploy software updates, fixes, and patches to Marriott-imaged devices, was updated at over 2,300 Managed by Marriott and franchise hotels in the U.S. and Canada this week. Hotels that did not already have the “BigFix Relay” application hosted on at least one device (most commonly a property server) received the application. Without BigFix Relay, Marriott was required to push updates directly to every Marriott-imaged device, requiring a significant amount of time and bandwidth. Now, Marriott only needs to push updates to the device(s) at each property with BigFix Relay installed, which will in turn push the updates to all other local devices at the property. As a result, updates and patches can be applied more quickly across Marriott’s portfolio using significantly less bandwidth.
The installation of the BigFix Relay is not associated with any costs, does not require any property action, and is not expected to result in any device downtime.
