Modified LNF Charge Structure for Marriott Rewards Hotels in June and July

Over the last few months, we have harmonized the consumer-facing and internal policy of the Look No Further (LNF) program for Marriott Rewards hotels and the Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) program for SPG hotels. In addition, we have expanded the LNF program to include the Supernova rate shopping tool. The new rate shopping tool shops 6,600+ hotels globally more than 120,000 times a day, generating reliable and consistent rate data. Based on this shopping data, each hotel is assigned a monthly Rate Parity Score designated as Red, Yellow, or Green based on the frequency of days for which the hotel’s rates are undercut on third party channels. Achieving and maintaining Rate Parity Score Green is a Brand Standard, and all hotels are required to comply.

We witnessed great progress and appreciate all efforts made to-date by hotels to address their LNF violations observed through the Supernova rate shopping tool. As of today, approximately 80% of all hotels globally have achieved Rate Parity Score Green, which is a significant improvement compared to when we started the project in January.

We recognize that hotels, area teams and management companies still have a number of integration-related tasks to complete during June and July, therefore, we are implementing a modified LNF Charge structure for Marriott Rewards hotels over this period. This will allow those hotels that have achieved Rate Parity Score Green to benefit from reduced LNF Charges while providing hotels in Yellow and Red time to focus on integration related activities and further improve their Rate Parity Scores. The modified LNF Charge structure for Marriott Rewards hotels in June and July is as follows:

  • No hotel will be charged for observed violations on Supernova for the month of June and July. Hotels will continue to be assigned a Rate Parity Score in each month.
  • Marriott Rewards hotels with a Green Rate Parity score will be charged $50 per Approved Consumer Claim (instead of $200 today).*
  • Marriott Rewards hotels with Yellow and Red Rate Parity scores will be charged $200 per Approved Consumer Claim (same as today).*

The expanded LNF Charge structure as previously communicated will go into full effect as of August 1, 2018 (for MR Hotels), and January 1, 2019 (for SPG Hotels).

*Applies to hotels’ Rate Parity Score status in June/July.
