Marriott International Names Liam Brown President and Managing Director of Europe
Owners and Franchisees,
I want to share with you that Liam Brown, President, Franchising, Owner Services and MxM Select Brands, North America, has accepted the role of President and Managing Director of Europe. Liam will replace Amy McPherson, who recently announced her retirement effective in early 2019. In his new role, Liam will have oversight for the United Kingdom, Ireland and Continental Europe.
Like me, I know you’ll miss Liam’s strong business acumen and, just as important, his unique ability to drive results while building a trusting relationship with everyone he meets. As President, Franchising, Owner Services and MxM Select Brands, North America since 2013, Liam has been instrumental to our success in the Americas, and has been an invaluable leader within our organization. Since joining the company in 1989, Liam has held a number of leadership positions, including Executive Vice President, Select Service & Extended Stay Development; Senior Vice President, Fairfield Inn Franchising; and Senior Vice President, Residence Inn Franchising.
During his time in these positions, the size of our portfolio – and, subsequently, our owner & franchise community – has grown exponentially. I know Liam has built strong relationships with many of you, with his diplomacy and candor making him a strong voice for your perspectives across our teams at Marriott. While we will greatly miss his leadership, I want to assure you his Franchising, Owner Services and MxM Select Brands, North America leadership team remains available to support our owners and franchisees across the portfolio. Specifically, this includes:
U.S.
- Support for Managed by Marriott Full Service owners led by Camilla Jensen,
- Leadership of Managed by Marriott hotels across Marriott Select Brands led by Jeff Ford,
- Support for Full Service franchising led by Kip Vreeland, and
- Support for Marriott Select Brands franchising led by Joe Carrillo and Adam Sherer.
Canada
- Leadership for Marriott Hotels of Canada led by Don Cleary, and
- Support for owner & franchise services, led by Roz Winegrad.
We’ve already begun thinking through how we will fill Liam’s role, given his many responsibilities. I will announce plans in the coming weeks and will be sure to update you.
In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Liam on this exciting new opportunity within the company. He and his wife, Lillian, will relocate to London during the first quarter 2019.
