LightSpeed Fixes Coming in June

The below information was shared via direct email to GMs of LightSpeed hotels on May 30.

Franchise Management Companies | Efforts have been underway to resolve challenges that LightSpeed hotel(s) may be experiencing. Starting in early June, we will be deploying a new release of LightSpeed to address many of the issues related to group blocks and inventory balancing. The new release will automatically deploy to hotels on a rolling basis; specific timing will be emailed to your property’s LightSpeed users.

LIGHTSPEED RELEASE FIXES
Below is a condensed list of fixes included in this LightSpeed release. Please visit the LightSpeed Release Fixes page on MGS to see the entire list of defect fixes for this release.

FUNCTION OPEN ITEM FIX
Balancing Mini-Hotel Authorization When releasing rooms in LightSpeed utilizing ‘Release All Uncommitted Rooms Upon Save’ on a mini-hotel, updates are now reflected in MARSHA.

Note: Only applicable to Mini-Hotels less than 60 days. For Mini-Hotels greater than 60 days, consider using the Wholesaler Module in LightSpeed.

Balancing Mini-Hotel Room Types Associates now allowed to delete Room Type with existing commitments.
Balancing Mini-Hotel Reinstate Reservation Users can now reinstate cancelled Group Reservation.
Billing Mini-Hotel Sharewiths Rates are now correctly split on Sharewith Reservations when they are created from Group/Wholesaler Room List and ‘split rate’ is unchecked.
Financial Rate Suppression Reservations created in Group/Wholesaler Rooming List or Batch Rooming List with ‘Suppressed Rate’ check are now created with a suppressed rate.
Financial Advance Deposits Removed Advance Deposits are no longer removed from reservation upon check-in (alleviating Financial Out of Balance).
Informational Guest Search Users can now search for Guest/Roommate in both Upper and Lower Case.
Informational Reporting Users can now run Open Folio Aging Report without a PDF% error returned.

Note: Date must be utilized, not ‘Today’.

WHAT HOTELS NEED TO DO
The LightSpeed release will be pushed automatically and therefore does not require action by hotel associates. Please note, however, that following this release LightSpeed will be functioning as intended for these items and associates should discontinue use of any workarounds. Specifically, on Group Master, the “Release All Uncommitted Rooms Upon Save” checkbox is now active and will release commitments in MARSHA as well as LightSpeed. Hotel associates will no longer need to manually release rooms.

Note: LightSpeed updates will cause the Night Audit process to run longer than usual.

TAKE NOTE
This LightSpeed release will not fix issues related to group blocks that have been created or modified in MARSHA. LightSpeed hotels work with MARSHA differently than hotels with other Property Management Systems. LightSpeed hotels cannot create or modify group blocks in MARSHA. If a user does this, the group block will become corrupted. Hotels that have a corrupted block will need to rebuild the group block LightSpeed.

We will deploy subsequent releases to address remaining LightSpeed issues, including around Rate Management. These releases will be communicated to hotels via the Weekly Update and automated upgrade emails from the LightSpeed system to users on property with a valid email address attached to their LightSpeed associate ID.
