In Support of World Day Against Trafficking
Marriott International supports Human Rights around the world and works to protect them while ensuring that hotels and services are appropriately used by others. Marriott’s stance aligns with government, business, and public concern about issues such as human trafficking and the exploitation of children.
AWARENESS POSTERS
In support of World Day Against Trafficking, which is today, July 30, to drive further awareness and reinforce the many indicators of human trafficking and forced labor, a video campaign: A Million Eyes – Stop Human Trafficking in its Tracks and several posters are available for hotels to use. These posters can be formatted to locally download, adapt, print, and place in the back of the house as appropriate. In addition, optional new posters have been created to post in the front of house. Find these publicly facing posters as well as guidance on best practices and recommendations on where to display these posters here on MGS.
TRAINING
As a reminder, human rights training, which includes training on child exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking prevention was required for all associates beginning in 2017 and is required within in the first 90 days of hire for all new associates moving forward. Associates at franchised properties may use the Marriott training or complete an alternative training that covers all forms of human trafficking, including forced labor and sexual exploitation. The Marriott training, “Your Role in Preventing Human Trafficking: Recognize the Signs” is offered as a 30-minute eLearning module, or can be delivered as an instructor-led course. Details and alternative options are available on MGS.
Hotels choosing to complete an alternative training or deliver Marriott’s training as an instructor-led course must record completions using course ID # 551176 (Your Role in Preventing Human Trafficking: Recognize the Signs – Marriott Instructor Led or External) as outlined in the Record Associate Training Job Aid. Additionally, hotels that need assistance in verifying associate completion can now reference the new Generate Associate Compliance Report Job Aid to ensure all associates have completed this required training.
