Prepare for California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
This information will be provided to hotels within the December 6 Weekly Update.
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020, gives California residents more control over their Personal Information. In particular, the CCPA allows California residents to request that a company not sell their data and/or to make access and deletion requests. Although this is a California law, all hotels should be familiar with the CCPA as California residents may inquire about their rights at any hotel. As such, we’d like to make you aware of the following resources. Note: hotels will also be receiving these resources via the Dec. 9 Weekly Update.
- Updated Global Privacy Statement and new CCPA Statement
- California Individual Rights Portal, which will allow guests to make access and deletion requests under the CCPA
- Job Aids and FAQs to help manage guest access & deletion requests and respond to guest questions
- Guidelines on annual recertification of the Global Privacy Training course, which will be updated in 2020 to include information on the CCPA
Review the CCPA page on MGS for FAQs and additional information.
