Chip and PIN Update | Lane 3000 to be Replaced with Lane 5000 Devices
Franchise Management Companies of Legacy Marriott Rewards Hotels in the U.S. | The Chip and PIN solution serves as the foundation to future payment capability enhancements. However, through recent testing, the project team learned that the Lane 3000 device is not capable of scanning QR codes, a critical future payment capability. This required us to quickly adjust our device requirement to ensure properties do not experience undue expenses later during future capability implementation. The Lane 3000 device will no longer be an option for Chip and PIN and will be replaced with the Lane 5000 device, which will increase the cost by $220 per device. Only properties that ordered Lane 3000 are impacted by this update.
IMPACTS & REMEDIATION ACTIONS OVERVIEW:
- Properties that have installed, ordered and incurred the cost of the Lane 3000 devices: Lane 5000s will be ordered and shipped to the properties to replace the Lane 3000 devices. Properties must return their Lane 3000 device(s) and Marriott will process credits via OFB upon the return of the Lane 3000(s). Details regarding this process will be communicated to impacted hotels and management companies in the near future.
- Properties that have submitted surveys that include Lane 3000, but have not incurred the cost: Orders will be automatically updated to the Lane 5000, and properties will incur an incremental cost of $220 per device (upon the shipment of the devices once the property is scheduled on a deployment wave). Note: Waves 4 (launching week of Feb. 3), 5 (launching week of Feb. 24), and 6 (launching week of Mar. 2) have already been ACH debited and received direct communications regarding this change.
- Properties that have not submitted surveys: The Equipment Ordering and Property Information Survey has been updated and Lane 3000 is no longer an option. If any hotel in your portfolio has not yet completed the survey, please have them do so as soon as possible. We will contact franchise management companies of outstanding hotels in the coming weeks.
