Courtyard GoBoard Removal Process – Next Steps
Courtyard announced GoBoard program changes in December 2018 which included a phase-out approach to the GoBoard. Phase 1, deployed in 2019, was to reduce GoBoard pricing and functionality while creating new design alternatives for the space. Phase 2, which provides instructions for GoBoard removal in concert with a planned public space renovation or partial renovation, began in January 2020. Hotels that renovate in the space may begin removing and cancelling their GoBoard.
Phase 2 Information
The GoBoard creates a strong first impression of the property for guests. For this reason, hotels must keep their GoBoard operational until approved for removal, and it will continue to be evaluated on the Brand Standard Audit as a 16-point question. Content will continue to be centrally created and managed by the Courtyard brand team and the GoBoard vendor, Four Winds. Hotels may not create their own content for the GoBoard screen as an interim solution.
When hotels are ready to renovate the GoBoard area and completely remove it, hotels may open the space or install a decorative art element as outlined in the recently released public space renovation guidelines.
- Hotels with a planned public space renovation in 2020: Hotels will remove the GoBoard during their public space renovation.
- Hotels without planned 2020 public space renovations: Hotels are not required to remove the GoBoard in 2020, as long as it is kept operational. However, hotels may opt to remove the GoBoard before their next scheduled public space renovation by completing a partial renovation and addressing the space around the GoBoard using the renovation guidelines that apply to that area of the public space.
Because the GoBoard removal process must happen during a public space renovation or partial renovation, a survey will be sent to hotels via the Jan. 27 Weekly Update to explain the process and request information regarding their plans for GoBoard removal. This will allow the Courtyard brand team to facilitate the cancellation process with Four Winds and the hotel seamlessly. Please encourage your hotels to complete the survey by February 18, 2020.
