Integration Update | Loyalty
While it will take time to integrate Marriott and Starwood’s loyalty programs, we want to provide our loyalty members with immediate benefits to drive deeper engagement and incent them to consolidate their share to our brands, as well as to drive greater returns you.
Now that the transaction has officially closed, we are announcing three new enhancements that will build bridges between our programs (Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest):
- Link Rewards and SPG accounts, providing access to the best of both programs,
- Transfer of points between programs, and
- Receive a reciprocal elite status match across Rewards and SPG.
For more details on each of these benefits, visit members.marriott.com.
While we are building bridges to engage members, our loyalty programs will continue to run as separate and parallel programs; members can only earn Rewards points at Marriott-branded hotels and SPG points at Starwood hotels. The programs will continue to maintain separate policies, including hotel charge-out rates, reimbursement policies, hotel category and tier charts, and member rates. As we look to the future, we will work toward creating a combined loyalty platform, drawing upon the very best of the Rewards and SPG programs to provide even more value to members, owners, and hotels. This launch will occur no earlier than 2018 and we will provide detailed information well in advance.
Today, we are sharing details of these new benefits with all hotel teams so they will be prepared to engage with guests about these updates.
