Required 2017 Human Rights Property Training Now Available
Marriott aims to build awareness surrounding human rights-related issues by developing and delivering relevant training as part of the onboarding process for new hires. In an effort to advance our industry’s impact on preventing human trafficking and forced labor risks, human rights training has been added to the 2017 Required Training Document and will become part of the learning plan for any new hire when they use the Learning Plan Tool within myLearning.
Marriott’s “Your Role in Preventing Human Trafficking: Recognize the Signs” training is now available for associates on myLearning, and can also be offered as an instructor-led course with the corresponding Human Rights Training Implementation Guide and the Human Trafficking Narrator Script. We recommend franchised properties to use either this training or complete an alternative training which covers all forms of human trafficking, including forced labor and sexual exploitation. Some examples of approved external training include:
- AHLEI and Polaris – Human Trafficking in the Hospitality Industry
- AHLEI and ECPAT-USA – The Role of Hospitality in Preventing and Reacting to Child Trafficking
- Verite – Forced Labor and Human Trafficking
We continue to share our training programs with the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the International Tourism Partnership, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and additional key external stakeholders as appropriate. To learn more about this initiative, visit MGS.
