Marriott International Government Affairs
U.S. Only | Decisions made in the Nation’s Capitol, state legislatures, and local governments have a tremendous impact on the success of Marriott and our industry. To support our business objectives, Marriott has a government affairs team focused on: (i) assessing business objectives and developing public policy strategies to support business goals; (ii) monitoring, reviewing, and influencing federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities; (iii) managing the relationships with external industry professionals, associations and coalitions promoting legislative and public policy issues that benefit our company and associates; (iv) guiding operational units in engaging federal, state and local governmental entities; and (iv) overseeing company-wide political compliance and political giving, including administering Marriott’s Political Action Committee.
The team works in partnership with hotel General Managers, owners and franchisees, as well as with organizations such as the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), in order to represent the interests of the hospitality & travel industries. Policy areas of focus include:
- Digital Disruption | Online Travel Agency (OTA) Tax Parity, Short-term Online Rentals
