Element Design Updates

Element Owners & Franchisees | As former Starwood brands are transitioning into the Marriott International portfolio, the Element brand is focused on evolving their B&F experience to align with their brand positioning. This involves focusing on the Rise, Relax, and Restore offerings, and this effort will ultimately be supported by a public space design update.

Marriott’s Global Design team was focused was on adjusting the Element design to provide lower cost-to-build options and addressing implementation challenges in the field.* Additionally, the new design allows the brand to showcase the Marriott design innovation through the introduction of the ‘Communal Room’. The overall design sensibility of the package remains in sync with the last prototype package released by Starwood. Other innovation work streams included the evolution of the current F&B programming.

  • RISE Breakfast – programming will focus on healthier options that are more aligned with the brand positioning, and a more aesthetically pleasing way of showcasing the new offerings
  • RELAX Reception – one component of Element’s evening programing that will continue to evolve, allowing guests to decompress after a day of work by mixing & mingling with fellow guests at the start of the evening, or to wind down before bed
  • RESTORE Pantry – will be integrated with the check-in experience with a more upscale market-like feel geared at enhancing the end-user experience and boosting retail sales

With this scope of work, the anticipated schedule of deliverables is as follows:

100% Design Documentation Available February 16, 2017
Final FF&E Package Available May 1, 2017
Final Purchase-Ready Specs Available June 1, 2017
Final Construction Documentation Available June 30, 2017

Additionally, please note that for any in-flight projects, the Marriott Global Design team is available to work with individual project teams to help balance prior generations of design with the new development.

* From a cost standpoint, we anticipate the new Element design to be within five percent of Residence Inn. As a reference point, Residence Inn is $126,000/ key (this assumes a Washington, D.C. location with a January 2016 construction start date).
