September 23 Marks First Anniversary of Starwood Acquisition
A year has now passed since Marriott International became the world’s largest hotel company following the acquisition of Starwood. Since that time, much progress has been made related to the integration – beginning on Day One with the ability for loyalty members to link their accounts. Our loyalty programs now reach over 100 million members and over 2 million of those are elite members.
Some of the most notable property activities to-date include the transition of SPG hotels to Marriott’s guestVoice platform, and the transition of Managed by Marriott SPG hotels to Marriott’s finance and HR systems. We also successfully launched the new Explore program, providing associates, owners and franchisees with access to discounts across the global portfolio of more than 6,200 hotels.
As we approach the one-year mark of the integration, we wanted to thank you for your partnership thus far. While we’ve made significant progress, as we look ahead to the next year, there will be many more major integration activities for hotels to complete. By late next year, we expect to have a single, behind-the-scenes loyalty and reservations platform. These platforms are the biggest drivers in enabling us to ultimately deliver more brand access and experiences for guests across the portfolio.
