Explore Rate Reminder
As previously communicated, effective January 17, 2018, hotels will be assigned an Explore rate that is uniform for their brand or brand sub-category, as outlined in the grid on MGS. Alternatives to these brand rates are granted only where hotels have a prior year rooms cost per occupied room (Rooms CPOR) that is greater than 90% of their brand rate. In those instances, the rate for the hotel will be set at 110% of their prior year CPOR, rounded up to the nearest rate ending in 9 (USD).
Franchised properties can request an alternative rate by submitting an alternate rate request form and financial documentation that supports the Rooms CPOR calculation. Request forms and additional information can be found on the RM Business Processes page of MGS. For changes effective January 17, 2018, requests must be submitted no later than December 15, 2017.
