Chip & PIN Deployment Update | October 2019

Owners and Franchise Management Companies of Legacy Marriott Rewards Hotels in the U.S. | As shared recently, we are ready to start the deployment of the Chip and PIN solution with Marriott’s selected payment Gateway Provider, FreedomPay, to legacy Marriott Rewards hotels in the U.S., starting with Global Point of Sale (GPOS).

The Chip and PIN installation schedule (as of Oct. 3) is now available on MGS for your reference; currently, this includes pilot hotels as well as the first group of hotels that completed their pre-deployment activities. This schedule will be updated regularly as properties get assigned to their respective deployment wave. As a reminder, the schedule is determined based on project prioritization criteria and on a first-come, first-served basis per completion of the pre-deployment activities.

Deployment will take approximately six weeks from start to the Install Date shown in the schedule. Hotels will be engaged directly at the start of deployment and should follow the deployment schedule, which will be pushed to them through Land-It.

Additional Details for Franchise Management Companies

A separate message will be sent directly to the individuals who completed the Participation Agreements and the ACH forms with specific instructions to enable seamless ACH payment to FreedomPay.

As a reminder, the installation date cannot be scheduled until the Participation Agreement has been completed by the management company (only for franchised hotels) and the Equipment Ordering and Property Information Survey has been completed by the hotel GM(s). Please note that within the survey, we have recommended GMs follow their management company’s policy for approval of device purchases prior to submitting the Survey; once the survey has been submitted, Marriott International assumes that properties have received appropriate approval to proceed.
