Update: Enhanced Version of Guestroom Entertainment for Canada

Guestroom Entertainment is Marriott’s next generation entertainment platform, which enables hotels to offer a differentiated, industry-leading guestroom television experience – making it personalized, user-friendly, and interactive. The GRE platform currently offers HD programming, a branded welcome screen, a digital compendium, and streaming applications, including Netflix, HBOGo, Crackle, YouTube, Showtime and Pandora, as well as Amazon Prime video, which is being deployed to existing GRE hotels.

As communicated in September, an enhanced version of Guestroom Entertainment (GRE) provides a new branded look and feel, as well as streamlined content management in support of our vision to deliver an industry-leading television experience. As previously communicated, hotels in the U.S. that signed a quote to install (GRE) on or after September 1, 2019 will receive the enhanced version of the platform.

Based on feedback, we have expanded this scope so hotels in Canada (excluding Quebec) that have signed a quote to install GRE on or after November 1, 2019 will also receive the enhanced version. A French language version of the enhanced platform required for hotels in Quebec is targeted to be available in Q1 2020.

In addition to the original features, the enhanced version comes with a new branded look and feel and enables centralized content and programming management above-property. Hotels utilizing the enhanced platform will no longer need entertainment service providers to perform individual changes by hotel. The upgraded platform will enable us to deliver more timely software and content updates without any effort needed from hotels. In addition, the property-specific compendium information will update automatically based on changes to data in EPIC.

As previously communicated, an analysis of the actions required for existing GRE hotels to obtain the enhanced version is currently underway. Additional communications will be provided in late 2019 or early 2020 once the analysis is completed.

As a reminder, Guestroom Entertainment is an auditable brand standard and all hotels with expiring entertainment contracts must install GRE within 3 months of contract expiration. For more information, visit MGS or email guestroomentertainment@marriott.com.
