Upcoming Required Upgrade for Windows 10 Enterprise Users

This information will be provided to hotels via the February 11 Weekly Update.

As previously communicated, Windows 10 Enterprise and Office 2016 became the new technology standard for Marriott computers across all brands due to Microsoft ending support for previous software versions. For those Marriott-supported computers or tablets currently on Windows 10 Enterprise, Marriott began the annual upgrade process in 2018. These annual updates are required to help keep our systems current and secure.

Windows 10 Enterprise machines connected to the Marriott network that have not updated to this new standard will receive a “pushed” upgrade at some point between February 12 and February 15. During this time, computer(s) should be turned on, plugged into a power source, and connected to the Marriott network in order for the update to run automatically. However, if the user is online when the upgrade is to occur, they may delay the action once for 24 hours before it will install automatically. Computers or tablets must be left turned on during the upgrade period and will be unavailable during the update (1-3 hours depending on hardware age).

We recommend that hotels which have numerous in-scope computers work with franchise technology POCs prior to install to coordinate the update process and reduce impacts from downtime.
